I've always been interested in Astronomy and space science, now my children are old enough to be interested too I finally decided to get myself a starter scope and have a go at finding my way round the sky.

hi pete, welcome to sgl, and your only down the road. what scope did you buy ?

A couple of you asked about my scope - it's a Celestron Astromaster 130eq with the motor drive (which I've removed for the moment).

I did a fair bit of research before buying and it seems a to be OK for the price, maybe slightly let down by the wobbly tripod.

I've managed to get a good look at the moon and Saturn so far  but the weather's been unhelpful recently.
