some files might be of use

I've had these files in my observation/travel preparation

1. David knisely's filter comparison. I've just made an excel version of that, so that it'll be easier to sort out in other ways. I've got permission from David to make the file for pulic use, as long as the original source is linked and making it clear that David has done all the filter comparison

 2. My own preparation and check list file for observation and dark site travel, with links to Messier Objects, Caldwell object, observation summary etc, you're free to use it.

I am not trying to steal your thunder here YKSE but I also have a similar reference here I found on a website that you may find similarly useful.

http://www.scopecity.com/how-to/select-telescope-filters.cfm?pn=How+to+select+telescope+filters Is more generic but does give usefull information about controlling exit pupils

http://www.cloudynights.com/page/articles/cat/user-reviews/accessories/astronomical-filters/filter-performance-comparisons-r1471#top Something I found on cloudynights but it is very comprehensive.

Good finding the article by David Knisely of the Prairie Astronomy Club, Steve. I'd posted that article here as well. Here's the original:

Excellent articles by David K, There are several others by him there as well:

Useful Filters For Viewing Deep Sky Objects:

And lastly we have:

Some Available Light Pollution And Narrow-Band Filters:

David Knisely is well known as a leading authority on the use of filters in a variety of astronomy-related applications. There may be others out there - anyone have one or two?
