Just waiting on those clear skies now. I even had a dream about the telescope last night, how it kept falling apart and the moon was starting to disappear and the quicker I rushed the more things fell apart. What a saddo I am! Ha!

Hi from Leicestershire and welcome to SGL,

I'm sure you'll get a lot of great views with your birthday prezzie.  You'll find lots of help and advice on here but also try to find a local Astro Society/Club - they'll be certain to organize group viewing sessions that you can go along to and chat with fellow hobbyists as well sharing views and advice.  I'd also echo the advice to download "Stellarium" onto a pc/laptop, as well as its more advanced capabilities, it is very useful for learning what is in the sky at any time.
