Ring Nebula Reprocessed

Recommended Posts

This is a reprocessing of data taken on 1st August 2015 in order to try out, learn to use, and see if Maxim DL is any better than Nebulosity. It's hard to say for sure which is the best at this stage as both have their pros and cons but I quite like the result of this test on a nice easy target.

Thanks for that. We all had to start from scratch and I still regard myself as something of a newbie too...especially when I see some of the amazing work on this site. All I can suggest is practice, practice, practice, and it won't be long before you start seeing results that you're pleased with. Best of luck and clear skies

This is currently a work in progress. Playing around with Photoshop CC to try and extract more detail from this image. This image is not as cropped as the others I have posted.

My first attempt at M57.  I attempted to capture the extended halo by gathering some OIII and Ha data and then blending these into Blue and Red channels, respectively of an LRGB image.  The image below represents about 21 hours and was taken with my Esprit 150.

      LIGHTS: L:13, R:13,G:8. B: 10 x 600s; Ha:13, OIII:14 x 1800s. DARKS:30, BIAS:100, FLATS:40 all at -20C.

4 nights , too many clouds and I finally collected some quality data after trashing over half of it . Lrgb composite,  my rendition of the " Ring nebula" Track n stack   .  I've got to get a handle on this new software {Aip4win} It's still a work in progress increased 200% , I don't think it's too bad for my 1st Lrgb" Ring nebula."  It's a learning process for sure , The " All seeing eye" ! Now to figure out how to get all the stars into my lrgb image , I went TO  processing and they turned blue then over half  vanished. Help ? I rotated the lrgb after I blew it up and after I saw the stars disappear. asi174MM cooled/efw mini 5 pos -10c 20s lxd55 mount.

Taken tonight via my SkyScanner 100 scope with a 6mm Expanse eyepiece. Night mode turned on my Samsung smartphone and images taken with it through the scope.
