Windows as stated for compatibility, i would also look for one with a graphic card so no memory gets used for displays......

one of these maybe with another 8 gig of ram....

Hi There,

That is a great spec laptop. In essence at the scope you do not need a lot of grunt. Its when you are processing you need the power, and you will certainly need the extra storage either directly attached or over your network. Just check to make sure all your astro s\w will work with W8.1, my preference would be W7. (£690 on amazon)

I do like this laptop as most nights I sit in the fish room with no light on ,and the key pad light up and make it easy to use,

and being low at the front make using the key pads a big plus, it no not have a disc drive so it do not come with out any discs,

so job number 1 is to back up the computer on a 32mb stick.as the Memory (RAM) 8 GB DDR3 is one stick and not 2x4 make this much better to just one more taking it 16.

Its well made easy to use ,so the only down side is not having a 1TB on board but a plug in works just as well no job is to much work it just get on with it and done in no time. only on day 1 with this laptop and my 1st post on it and every time my spelling is not right it high light in red ,PS Editing may be a thing of the past from now on

love it may be on the high end for a laptop as just over £750 with a 1TB DRIVE AND and 8mb +32mb back up stick all done at the shop in 1 hour.

Nice laptop, had a look at that and a zenbook today. Instead I just treated myself to a hp spectre 360 today, only 4gb but 12 hour battery which is what I needed.

That a nice laptop as well , and one not to over look when shoping .

Hi Starlight 1,

Have a look at PC Specialist http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/   before you commit. You can configure a laptop there to meet your budget and needs and get Win 7 installed and the OEM disc provided so any problems down the line and you can reinstall the O/S, particularly useful if ever the hard drive needs replacing  . I've lost count on the number of high street computers I've resurrected for people where no back up discs were created by the user. Caveat emptor and all that.

Best of luck however choosing your new pc.

Cheers,

Steve

Whilst I have always used pc builders for supply of my own to build and the numerous others for friends and family I have always stayed with tier 1 suppliers for laptops. The cost difference is very little now, and these firm just cannot match the r&d of the main players.

+1 for pcspecialist as Steve says. I got mine from there, only pay for bits you need, plus comes with os cd so can do custom rebuild if needed. Recommend ssd on primary for os, only need 128gb or 256gb, then get a secondary hdd or hybrid drive, pc boots up in 10sec [emoji1]
