Congrats! The 130P is a very capable scope and great choice for a first scope. Though 5yrs is a tad young to use a scope unsupervised - your son will be thrilled to look through it with you and learn the skies together. :)

One thing that is hard to start with is lining up the scope with objects....practice in daylight at some distant trees etc...make sure that red dot finder is aligned....then just practice and practice and lining things up will get easier...it will teach you patience!

Do have a look at Albeiro the colourful double star in Cygnus...bright enough to see even at this time of year and lovely colours in that 130p..
