Not bog standard at all John.  It's a terrific scope! :headbang:

Mike

Had a quick go with it tonight, and love it. I have been using the mount with my 130PDS, the frac is mainly for visual with occasional imaging. I hadn't seen 1 100ED in the flesh until I opened the box, its a lot bigger than I had expected. I got it from ENS Optical, delivery was very fast, and its exactly as described apart from it came with a finder scope which I was not expecting.

First photo taken eyepiece projection using my phone.

Great looking building PaulC

I want to make an ATM ISTAR, for my first project I want to go large with either the new 8.7" f15 or 9" f7.7 lens.  The 9" would be a killer solar scope so I am leaning towards that.

I occasionally use my 8.5" refractor for white light and Ha observation. I have to say that you need good conditions to benefit from the aperture. You can always stop an aperture down though.   :icon_biggrin:

Put my Megrez90 on the Photoline with a 0.79x TS reducer and ASI1600 in preparation for Markarian's Chain.

The Photoline has a 0.75x APM reducer which is hidden inside the 3.7" focuser.

The blanket over the dec axis is an electric pet warmer to keep dew / condenstion at bey.

Here's a group photo of all my fracs (apart from my televue 85 which is down in the Isle of Wight currently). From left to right Televue 60, Lunt 35mm, Lunt 60mm, Takahashi FC100DF, Takahashi FC100DL and TEC 140. I admit 7 is a bit much - probably the smallest two and one of the FC100s should go but I can't bring myself to sell any yet.

I'm not sure about selling any on yet Gavin, there's still room in that photo frame for another frac if you move everything over to the left. I'm thinking may be a FS 152 would complete the collection?!

Alternatively, you may be able to coax me into exchanging my FC100DC for your DL and then you can get Peter Drew to build you a superlative pair of FC100D binoculars. :blob3:

A few snaps of my TMB / LZOS 130mm F/9.2 triplet on the HEQ5 mount (thanks Chris :icon_biggrin:).

Certainly looks and feels right. Hope the clouds shove off later !

Oh my word that looks so right!...glad I sold it you John! Looking forward to first light as I'm sure you are :)

I have a cheap as chips EQ3 incoming soon to take the edge of the loss, and once I've recovered from the 1138 quid to fix my cars duel mass clutch and timing belt I'll look for a cheap as chips achro to stick on it....that will be to take the edge off the ED100 loss......1138 quid.....I could have bought a Tak 76 for that! Grrrr!

Anyway, looking good John and hope you get some clear skies and good seeing very soon :)

Now your just encouraging me, Mike ?

I think my partner would leave home if an even bigger frac arrived. Also having noticed a material difference between the 100mm and 140mm a few weeks ago I think a move to the right would need to be a 180mm. Having seen DirkSteele's photos of his fantastic 180mm the sheer size (not to mention the cost!!!) means it's not going to happen. I have reached my comfort limit. And I think you mentioned to me previously that the FS 152 you had was a little on the large size? ?

Interesting ideas re bino FC100s but one for another year I think...

Talking of "cheap as chips" refractors, this 90mm F/11 Meade seems a reasonable buy (a bit undermounted though):

Not my ad I hasten to say.

Decent eyepieces with it too - I'd have given a lot for 3 1/2 frac when I was starting out but I'd have had to pay a lot more than 70 quid !

Ooh that's tempting just for the OTA and the Parks EP John :)  An 90mm f/11 would sit quite nicely on the incoming eq3. I'm supposed to be all sell sell sell at the moment but got slightly talked into the EQ3 (did want it really though, nice light weight mount to get driven in RA).

Infact it might be time to move the Classic 76mm f/16 on, but I might regret that so will sit on my hands? Really I should be selling everything given my recent expenses, but you have to have keep something for moral purposes, hey :icon_biggrin:

Certainly is amazing what you get now days for relatively little!
