Looks even bigger in that picture Steve. Gorgeous scope, shame I didn't manage a peek at SGLX :-(

How much did you get it for in the end Shane? I'd got my eye on it as a lighter alternative to my 300P with traditional Chinese flat pack kitchen chip board weigh the earth base.

Yeah sorry about that mate. I really need to sort the anti dew kit. One of the other dob mob (Mike) is going to help me sort that. Electrickery isn't really my thing.

Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. SW300PDS on a self built Dob base.

Nice (and scary) thread this one!

Mike,

Don't forget the time difference and other problems, those being to get it all on one photo he will have to go out and buy a sub 20mm camera lens..

Swampthing,

I see yours is house trained.

Alan.

A first public outing for the new base? Looks like it should do the job.

How is it working and did you save much weight?

Paul

Soon to go back to the US for a refurb, here's my little Portaball. It's only 8" but what a mirror (Zambutto) it has and it's an utter joy to use. All parts of the sky are equally accessible, it tracks smoothly, stops when you stop pushing and can be carried around with one hand without any bother. You can also twist the whole thing to get the eyepiece exactly where you want it.

Who says size matters (except when it comes to putting up wallpaper)?
