do focus reducers change the focus point?

does the focus point change if you use a focal reducer on a newt?

Yes, they have to as they are fairly simple bits of optics.

Focal reducers reduce the focus distance but they are not really recommended for Newtonians as they amplify the inherent coma present in these telescopes. Just for info., a coma corrector also reduces the focus distance.

a 1.25" reducer probably wont work correctly as they need to be matched to the optical specificatio of the scope, however you have nothing to loose trying.
