M27- lets see your pictures.

Another M27 - this time just a single 10 second sub with 10" F4 Newtonian and Lodestar X2 camera.

That's very impressive for just 10 secs!

I now have the RASA back & I'm experimenting with the capture in narrow band. The power of the RASA is amazing me. I have a very poor sky generally with light pollution. The sky as you know at this time of the year is not dark but take a look at the image below in OIII. It has no correction at all and is only 6 90 second exposures. The detail it has captured has blown my socks off- it would have taken hours with the previous edge- even at f7 to get the detail recorded in 9 minutes- I can't wait for darker skies!

Don't be too hard on yourself. That is a nice image. The stars are nice & round so the guiding is good & you have kept the colours of the stars intact- that is something I struggle with from my light polluted skies. What equipment did you use- the field is quite flat.

I finished the OIII last night & this is the image stack I will be working with- this 117 90 second exposures with the RASA using the SkyX direct guide & an ST80 with lodestar X2. The filter is a fast Baader OIII to work at the focal ratio of F2.2. I have not flat fielded or BIAS corrected the stack yet.

I'm a bit baffled by the SII photograph. This looks like you have photographed a black hole. I'm photographing in SII at present (I took 30 5 min subs last night) & I see a nice dumbell- did something go wrong in your picture?

OK, here is one from a testing session on my local society's Williams Optic FLT110. 6 x 5min RGB only with an Atik 414ex. Seeing the outer clouds in some of these images, I am definitely having a more concerted effort with my own kit from home - amazing.

I'm a bit baffled by the SII photograph. This looks like you have photographed a black hole. I'm photographing in SII at present (I took 30 5 min subs last night) & I see a nice dumbell- did something go wrong in your picture?

as in the image there was nothing in S2 except the little bit around 2 o'clock position

not sure what went wrong

I added the S2 to the set of data & obtained the following result. Processing is very rough so I will rework the data in PI when I get the time.

Finally I managed to reprocess my M27, with, in my opinion a slightly better results. More subtle, better balanced background and more realistic colours

Well after last night I can contribute my own M27 for real! I managed to get the red nebulosity too. This is two images, one to accentuate the blue and one to show the red, superimposed - probably not the best way to do it, but I couldn't get both showing clearly in the same picture otherwise.
