Hello Everyone,

Just thought I wound introduce myself, my name is Nick and I leave in a village just outside Cambridge, UK.

I've had a great interest in Astronomy for most of my life and my academic learning was devoted to high-energy

physics mainly in the area of nuclear synthesis together with deep study of the more exotic cosmological objects

including white dwarfs, neutron stars, gamma ray bursters and of course my old friend, black holes.

However my knowledge is a bit rusty on this subject as my career over the past 15 years is mainly involved with

encryption systems for Internet systems with the goal of making our (online) world a safer place for everyone.

I share my passion of astronomy with keep marine fish, managing our house and land which includes lots of

chickens, ducks, rabbits and a horse. I also enjoy metal detecting, motorcycling (used to have a Ducati but

never had the time to ride it much!) and most sports.

Currently just solar observing with a fantastic Lunt SolarScope, looking to invest in an Altair APO refractor

anytime soon,

Hello Nick and welcome to SGL, I guess there's not many late nights for you if your into solar observing. May the sun shine when you need it

Many thanks for the post. Been cloudy quiet a bit during the day but looking forward to the nocturnal stars and a few late nights.

Hello an welcome to this awesome forum! I 've found it so helpful and learned quite a bit here in just 2 weeks. Hope you enjoy your time here nad of course both solar and night sky observing!
