focuser broken - 200p

Hi all,

i have a skywatcher 200p. I went to use it the other night but when i went to focus on an object, the focuser wouldnt stay in position and kept sliding down back into the tube. Its not as if i had a 120 degree es eyepiece in either, just a tv plossl. Is this a common problem that can easily be fixed, or should i just replace/upgrade the focuser?

This is most likely just an adjustment to the tension- there should be instructions for doing this in the telescope's manual. Crayford focusers do require careful adjustment to get the best from them.

There is a tension adjusting grubscrew on the underside of the focuser that probably needs tightening slightly , the one in line with the locking screw.

As said there is a tension screw underneath that needs setting, if however you are really unlucky it may have fallen out. :icon_sad:
