An old thread - but very relevant. Thanks for making it available - I'm making life difficult for myself by trying to adapt the final part of the process in Luminar rather than PS.

I keep using GIMP, especially now it supports 16bits per pixel properly. The kit is expensive enough, so free software is most welcome

I must admit I'd quite forgotten about GIMP, it's a long time since I last looked at it.

Solar flats question, do you just defocus area of sun and you're imaging to take them?  Never tried flats in as3, want to test.

Yes, but make sure even for limb shots that you fill the chip with de focused sun. I have also used cling film over the objective at small apertures but the method you describe works best for my 60mm aperture.
