Hi stargazers the world over!

Just joined the site today.  Finally took the plunge and got my scope ordered - I've gone for the well priced and well rated Skywatcher Explorer 130 EQ2 - to get delivered for my birthday, taking advantage of the wonderful light pollution free county of Moray in Northern Scotland where I recently moved to.

Always been interested in the stars, seems the perfect time to get into some serious stargazing! 

Looking forward to sharing with you all and seeing all your stories and pictures

Hi El Pedro and welcome to the lounge, you will be envied your dark skies, If you have not already found it yet a good way of learning your way around the skies is with the free Planetarium download www.stellarium.org/ you can configure the settings to your location and add various plugins. Enjoy your new scope.

Thanks for the welcome everyone, scope turned up today, a day late, I'm stuck in the North Sea working, it does mean it'll be almost my birthday when I get to play with it!

Any tips for some good viewings in the coming weeks? Or should I repost in an appropriate thread?

 Check out the Sky at Night and Astronomy Now magazines/websites, and Turn Left At Orion is a book you should not be without! Also, don't forget the meteor shower peaking on the 22nd/23rd of this month :)
