Solar filter pinholes

Hi everyone,

I'm looking forward to the eclipse on the 20th March and made my first filter.

But having done a light test with a torch now have serious doubts about its fit for purpose!

I've not seen a pinholed baader film before, but I think these pictures of mine are exactly that.

Can someone please confirm?

Thank you so much

Chris

Have a look at this page on FLO which mentions pinholes in Baader film:

I know very little about solar filters however, and you have only one pair of eyes, so I am not trying to advise you. I suspect that is also why no-one has replied to this thread. Perhaps you should contact your vendor.

I did some quick maths, and to double the intensity of light coming through the film on a 100mm scope, you would only need a hole of 0.785mm square (i.e. 1/10,000 of the surface area of the filter).
