TS1050WF - worth considering?

Hi

I see these are ~200 euros inc. postage (~£160?) from Teleskop Service (http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p4311_TS-binocular-10x50-Wildlife---rubber-armoured---nitrogen-purged.html). How do they compare with other bins at around that price, particularly the Opticron Imagic TGA WP 10x50, or the Pentax 10x50 PCF WP II?

And would there be a noticeable difference in image quality between these bins and the TS1050MX/William Optics 10x50 ED?

Thanks!

Matt.

Looks solid, but I have not looked through them. For astronomy purposes, the TS-Marine 10x50 (BA-8 clone) should be very good indeed (little brother of my Helios Apollo 15x70 HD).

It is more expensive, but the price has come down considerably; 229 euro is a good deal for such good bins

Hi Matt, they look remarkably similar to BA8s - the big prism housings particularly, but they have centre focusing. Looking on United Optics web site, they sometimes give possible customer options/preferences but centre focusing on the BA8s does not seem to be there. They are not as heavy as the BA8s either. Those queries aside they do look nice bins.

Thanks Michael and Alfian for your replies.

I'd thought it might be perhaps a type of BA8, but on further investigation, it seems to be a BW5 - http://www.united-optics.com/Products/Binoculars/Huniting_Birding_Outdoor_Binoculars/BW5_Series/BW5%20Series.html (looks and spec seem to match).

Comparing the features of the two ranges, I see that the BA8s have 'Exotic large eyepieces'. Any ideas as to what that means in practice? I'm tempted by the optical quality of the  BA8s, but the heavy 'military spec' is putting me off.

Thanks,

Matt.
