USB ports and using a Hub

Had to buy a new PC at the weekend and only have 3x USB 2.0 and 2 x USB 3.0

As usual loads of kit to connect my thinking was as follows

Canon eos 1100d on USB.3.0

PHD to mount (astroeq) usb 3.0

Qhy guide cam on USB.2.0

HUB with keyboard,mouse,focuser USB2.0

USB 2.0 empty for memory stick ect

Does this make sense or should I use another configuration.

1st attempts yesterday cause various bits of kit to freeze but I don't think I had them in the above configuration.

Some older USB 2.0 items such as your canon 1100D and the pHD software will cause problems on USB 3.0, put them on the USB 2.0 and use the 3 for the items such as, keyboard, mouse, memory stick.

There is no benefit really of putting USB 2.0 items on USB 3.0 ports.

Your three main items, canon camera, PHD mount control and QHY camera should be all on USB 2.0 ports if possible.

Try it and see
