direction choice

morning all, I am deciding where to make my permanent viewing spot. my garden is on a slope with house at the top and large tree at the bottom.  one side has small trees the other large bushes. I can probably go to any corner to build my obsy but which one? in order of choice which would be your choice of viewing direction? by the way the garden isn't as big as it sounds, its about 35 feet long and 50 wide

where's the light pollution?

assuming none, I'd always sooner face South I think as everything goes there eventually or failing that east

there is a special residential school that has orange lights on all night. it is behind the large tree which is between southeast and south. any other light is behind the house (north/ northwest)

I would try your scope from a variety of locations to find the best one before deciding. As already mentioned the widest southerly views are the best.

I think most of the good stuff will be blocked by the tree, here's hoping its an ash tree!
