Good locations in Scotland

Recommended Posts

Ok so I am within an hour of very dark sky's and Sunday is a clear night.

Live just outside Glasgow and plan on taking a drive for some proper guided photos away from light pollution.

Any one know of any good locations that I won't likely be disturbed by the saxo squad or other characters? I was thinking maybe up Callander way or the east side of loch lomond.

Ideally some where I can park and setup.

The moon tonight at 96% full will wash out any advantage of a dark site, plus any snow left on the ground will really brighten up the surroundings.

Unless of course you want to do the lunar 100 list ;)

One of my best ever observing sessions was with 6" of snow on the ground. Snow takes all the pollution out of the air for good stable seeing conditions :) obviously the moon won't help at all though.

+ 1 for the Galloway gathering.

Awsome skies when clear and a 5 Star campsite to boot.
