Jupiter 19th January

Here is an image from the 19th Jan, Seeing was good at times, but still rippling and fuzzing out.

GRS and oval BA visible. My first image with the new ASI 120MM rather than mu old DMK21-618 camera.

The processing required different flow path especially wavelet sharpening. I usually use 1.5x drizzle in AS2!, but the AS120 image would not take much sharpening.

Had to switch drizzle off then sharpening seemed to work better. Not sure why?

regards

Peter

A very nice image in spite of the conditions.

My understanding of how drizzle works suggests it is only really useful when the image is undersampled and I've seen a few others saying the same thing.  At f/20 you're probably close to the optimal focal ratio for the ASI120MM.  The larger pixel size of the DMK means it may be more difficult to achieve the optical focal ratio (probably somewhere around f/30 to f/35) and unless you do drizzle may perhaps be more useful there.
