Lovejoy quick and dirty high ISO with the 5DIII

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to see what the 5DIII with the Canon 200/2.8L could get out of Comet Lovejoy shooting wide open and at ISO12800 from a static tripod....

Took 20x5s  but had to throw one away and stacked them in DSS, Cropped the Comet and very quick and very dirty process in PS CC...

Even the 5s exposure show too much trailing for Comet stacking to work :(

Should really get the EQ6 out but still recovering from the "lurgy" and didn't fancy hauling all that out...

I had this problem with some 5 minute subs a couple of nights ago; until I went into "Stacking Parameters", "Alignment" and selected "No Alignment". It would then stack on the comet ( having previously marked the comet in each image ).

Hope it works for you.

It gave me this from 1 hr 45 mins of 5 minute, ISO 800 exposures.
