Celestron Ultima 2x Barlow (well about 2.25 actually)

I have a one of these and had heard it wasn't exactly a 2x so this morning I tried it out on an old building about 2 miles away and compared it with the Orion ultrascopic and assuming that the Orion is indeed a 2x the results are confirmed that the Celestron is stronger than 2 times and using a 18 and then 15mm of equal FOV to see what I could pick out I would say that it is indeed around 2.25 ish.

Have to say the views were nice and clear through both barlows and all I need to try them all out properly is a clear night, oh wait!

Although they are different barlows - I have had the same results with the Revelation 2.5x barlow 3-element.

Mine magnifies at 2.2/2.3 or there abouts.

My standard is a floodlight tower about 1/2 a mile away.

The square scaffold poles on the tower make a nice graticule to compare magnifications.
