Nice to see Venus back

Shinning away like a beacon in the south just after sunset. I been looking for a while waiting for Venus to return above the trees, so it was nice to see the return this evening. Not able to get the "big guns" but it looked very nice through the big bino's, showing a small gibbous disk.

I was just outside watching the end of the sunset and there was Venus shining away, and guess what was beneath it, just above the horizon - our little friend Mercury.  I very nice naked eye view.

Yes it always nice to see Venus back - morning or evening.  Just had my first glimpse, but it quickly went behind some tree cover so no opportunity to try for Mercury.

I saw Venus last night and it was a great sight, then Mercury appeared, wonderful. There is a close Venus/Mercury conjunction on the 10th.

I had a look for it from home the other night but think it was too low to see. Anyway, managed to spot it from the first floor offices at work yesterday at around 16:30 blazing away and still there, very low by this point just after 17:00.

Still too cloudy near the horizon at the moment, but it's slowly clearing.

James - you're obviously not far away and it seems I was lucky: wisps of cloud but enough gaps to see the planets - Mercury needed the binoculars though. 10 mins later and they were gone again

Tough spot was Mercury tonight.. just about managed it unaided.. needed Venus though as a marker.. Lovely to see both in the evening twilight though. Brilliant sight they are together.

I got Venus Mercury and Mars unaided today, but with the cloud it was a fleeting threesome!

My local forecast is good from about 1800. If I can catch Hesperus and Hermes then a full set could be on the cards again.

Very nice, but all to brief scene tonight at sunset due to the trees! Venus is beginning to dazzle and Mercury close by was very prominent tonight just after sunset.
