IC1805 - Heart Unbinned (Cannistra + HST colour) 130pds

Despite it still being a bit Mooney, I figured that if I get an early enough start I might be able to get some decent subs in before the Moon got too high and spoilt things.

Ive had the first couple of hours worth unbinned sitting around for about a month now doing nothing, so time to top it up. And by the time I packed away I had collected 7.5 hours worth in total - which should be enough to make a good luminance layer.

Additionally, Ive given it the Cannistra touch - as well as some HST - OIII and SII courtesy of last years 80ED data, a trip to noise hell but I got it sorted after a brutal dose of smoothing to the colour. I think this is the longest ive even pointed the 130 at the same spot unbinned.... hmmm, seems to have been worth it. While im here, I will post the y Cas nebula I did the other night (not great, but it will serve as a reference).

lovely images, the heart is nice.   what were your sub exposures

cheers

The 130pds Ha lum layer was 7.5hrs in a mixture of 15 and 20min subs. The colour layer was comprised of 8x600 in Ha and OIII from the 80ED, so the signal level was a bit harder to work with. But once combined with the lum, the noise was pretty much 100% gone.

Hmmm... you know what, im thinking this might be able to take a bit more sharpening on some parts. Either that or throw even more subs at it - Ive got one clear night (tonight) but im still undecided as to what to do.

Cheers :)

A funny thing just happened on faceache, I think the Pelican I put up the other week has gotten Mr Skywatcher's attention :D  Well, ive just posted the Heart on there too - hopefully it should look ok. There is something about FB that seems to mangle astro photos.

Cheers Scott, sorry I havent replied sooner..... had a dose of man-flu here, lost my voice and a bit groggy. Not the kind of day off I would have wanted! Well, I guess its better to have it now rather than have me Christmas dinner ruined :)
