Given the respective merits of the 130pds and the 200p, which would you choose if you were given to

occasional veiwing and AP (mainly winter)

I have both scopes.

The 200p I find better for:

Planetary imaging/viewing.

Close up lunar imaging/viewing.

The 130pds I find better for:

Deep space imaging.

less magnified lunar imaging/viewing and mosaics.

What sort of mount and AP were you considering?

The 130pds. The deciding factor is the "occasional" viewing, as soon as the word occasional was added then the smaller size makes it more likely that will be occasional and not infrequent.

The choice of Mount was going to be my next question, I was thinking an HE5? When I have a go at the AP I use either a spc900 or 1100d, so does the 130pds and HE5 sound ok?

Hi Sully,

Are you referring to the HEQ5?

If I was starting again from scratch, I'd go for the 130pds on HEQ5.

With your DSLR you will have the start of a DSO setup and you can still get some nice lunar and planetary shots with the spc900.

I haven't used the 130pds for visual
