beginners scopes

My wife was asking me what I want for xmas, when I stumbled upon this page:

is it worth getting one of these for quick sessions in the garden?

i have  a decent scope at home, but I thought it would be good to have something small to have a quick gander now and then.

I do have some bins at home, which do get used, but I thought it would be nice to have a scope too.

is it worth it?

It is allways worth having a grab and go scope and they dont have to be second best sure they will not show planets etc like a larger one but a large scope cant do widefield so its good to have both.

skywatcher 200p + heq mount.

space is an issue.... (no pun intended!)

Helo goat boy like you I have a 200 dobsonian and am looking for a grab and go for holidays etc choices are SW star travel 102 or the 120 both light easy to use and set up best of luck with your choice,there is a thread on the forum for theses slopes best of luck with your choice

both of those scopes may be above the wife's budget for my xmas pressie.....

I thought it was going to be an easy choice - Skywatcher Heritage-100P

but now I'm even more unsure

If she will go to that then thats your boy. Certainly will cool quick and at F5 will be better than the 100p which incidentally i have, on your eyepieces. (I do like my 100p though but now its been relegated to a travel only scope)

And yes, it is small when collapsed
