Buying a Dob

Recommended Posts

May the Dob be with you.

Luke, I am your Dob

Fracs? Where we're going we don't need fracs.

Look, Daddy. Teacher says, every time a bell rings, an astronomer gets his Dob.

This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I'm Dob-man

Stand by your Dob

Possibly my favourite... Hang on lads, I've got a Dob...

Ok, got a little carried away there ;)

That was a big mistake.....now they are free to roam at will across the whole forum, scaring innocent little refractor owners ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Telescope

Louise Gluck

There is a moment after you move your eye away
when you forget where you are
because you’ve been living, it seems,
somewhere else, in the silence of the night sky.

You’ve been stopped being here in the world
You’re in a different place
a place where human life has no meaning.

You’re not a creature in a body.
You exist as the stars exist,
participating in their stillness, their immensity.

Then you’re in the world again.
A night, on a cold hill,
taking the telescope apart.......

Surely, it matters not what telescope type is used? Each in their own manner of way will present and frame the universe in a slightly different fashion which indicates that each type is essential to own and enjoy and learn from. Each telescope you use inevitably brings you back to yourself; that you have been a nebula and an open cluster, a red giant and a supernova and one day, you will be again. There is no correct telescope separating us from the stars and the DSOs, there is only time....

"Here's looking through you, Dob."  (OK, pushing it a bit, there!)

"All right, Mr. Dob, I'm ready for my close-up."

"E.T. sees home" (made me chuckle, but them I'm a bit sad :))

"Of all the Dobfests in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine."

"Hasta la Vixen, baby"

Oo, oo oooo.....  "Open the dob bay doors please, HAL."

"I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dob too!"
