ianpwilliams
My 130PDS OTA has arrived today, and one thing I've noticed is that there are no safety screws for the dovetail, although the dovetail has screw holes (although the OTA would be really far forward if using safety screws based on where the holes are, unless I moved the tube rings). I'd like to use safety screws if possible. Also, will I even need to use either of the weights on the HEQ5 mount with my 130PDS? The OTA is so small and light, I wouldn't be surprised if just one of the weights was twice as heavy as the OTA itself, so maybe I won't need the weights? Uplooker
Pretty sure you will need one weight, albeit very close to the mount on the counter weight bar.Ian
ianpwilliams
Ok thanks. And ignore my question about safety screws, as there is a bolt at each end of the dovetail, so it won't be sliding out when it's in place.
Robp
You will need to use one of the HEQ5 weights. My weights sits quite near the top of the bar and balances nicely.I don't have it to hand but I's guess it was around 10cms down the bar so use that as a starting point and move it until you get the required balance. Its a cracking scope for the money, hope you enjoy it.
