Nope - only ngc, ic, caldwell and messier (m) are supported unfortunately...

If somebody has a list of constellations with the RA/DEC I can add it in but I'm a bit snowed under at the mo so won't get chance for awhile to find the list myself...

I have a list of all the constellations and their official CENTRE RA and DEC.

I can make the maps myself - it's just a little long winded.

When you get the time let me know and I'll send you the list!

Cheers bud

Done ;)

?object=cyg&size=3

You need to use the abbreviated constellation name:

And, Ant, Aps, Aqr, Aql, Ara, Ari, Aur, Boo, Cae, Cam, Cnc, CVn, CMa, CMi, Cap, Car, Cas, Cen, Cep, Cet, Cha, Cir, Col, Com, CrA, CrB, Crv, Crt, Cru, Cyg, Del, Dor, Dra, Equ, Eri, For, Gem, Gru, Her, Hor, Hya, Hyi, Ind, Lac, Leo, LMi, Lep, Lib, Lup, Lyn, Lyr, Men, Mic, Mon, Mus, Nor, Oct, Oph, Ori, Pav, Peg, Per, Phe, Pic, Psc, PsA, Pup, Pyx, Ret, Sge, Sgr, Sco, Scl, Sct, Ser, Sex, Tau, Tel, Tri, TrA, Tuc, UMa, UMi, Vel, Vir, Vol, Vul

Cheers,

Grant

P.S - by adding: &size=2 to it, you see more of the constellation...

We did talk about a button, but now that you can enter four different sets of info (M, NGC, RA&DEC, Constellation) and produce a map.

Not sure that it'll be that easy to have a single button to do all of that.

Grants really maxed out at the moment so it'll be some time, but I'm sure we'll do something...

Here is the code for inserting into the forum

http://stargazerslounge.com/star_charts/?object=cyg&size=2

when you click on that link it opens the image in the browser and changes the address to a PNG image (like your example).

Size = 1 is the closest in, size = 3 is the best comprimise IMO.

So the forum code would become http://stargazerslounge.com/star_charts/?object=cyg&size=3

when you type this into the browser address bar is becomes http://stargazerslounge.com/star_charts/images/cyg_3/cyg_3.png

If you want to display the image within the forum (and not a link) then you need to use the code that I've called forum code and add [ img ] [ /img ] (without the spaces) either side of it.

Does that help?

I see. Changing the digit after the underscore, it changes the size, as I've tried it with your link

e.g. 1) http://stargazerslounge.com/star_charts/images/cyg_3/cyg_3.png ---> image is resized to size 3

2) http://stargazerslounge.com/star_charts/images/cyg_2/cyg_2.png ---> image is resized to size 2

Great! :-)

But, when I tried centering on M29 or M33, for example, just to try things out, it would give me M33 to size 1, and would not resize to size 2 or 3. For M29, NGC 6913 the browser displays 404. I use Opera but I've tried it also with Internet Explorer with the same results, so I'm obviously missing something. Could you point me in the right direction, please? :scratch:

You need to use the format:

http://stargazerslounge.com/star_charts/?object=M33&size=3

or

http://stargazerslounge.com/star_charts/?object=M33&size=1

The URL's you posted are what you get sent to once you go to one of the above links, e.g: http://stargazerslounge.com/star_charts/images/cyg_3/cyg_3.png

Hope that helps,

Cheers,

Grant
