HEQ5 Microcontroller needed...

Recommended Posts

Hi all :)

I have not working HEQ5 PRO mount. After checking everything, I found that one of the PIC16F886-I/SO(1148VVK - see picture) chip is burned - confirmed at electronic shop. Do anyone know where I can get a new one? I checked ebay and amazon, and other websites with no luck. By the way... Where can I found information what exactly chip do I need(clock speed, memory, etc...)?

And... if chip will be replaced, will I have to do something? Program it?

Adam.

Hi Adam,

Replacement chips can be obtained from:

http://uk.farnell.com/microchip/pic16f886-i-so/mcu-8bit-pic16-20mhz-soic-28/dp/1439538

The problem you will have is programming it... Skywatcher won't give you the software, and I very much doubt that the standard motor board updates will work, since the chip has to have an exsisting version installed.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Sandy.

Wow that's a serious design flaw, there should either be protection built into the circuit or the plugs should be different sizes.

I know my guide cable won't actually fit the handset port as it is RJ9 vs RJ11.
