Professor Cottrell is correct. It's too far away to do any real damage. Gamma ray bursts are intergalactic in nature, and come from supernova explosions of extremely massive stars born a very long time ago. Even if WR104 goes SN, it most likely doesn't have enough mass to generate a "real" GRB.

I'm not worried. He may see it as looking down the barrel, but the barrel is only visible in a 6 meter class telescope. :wink:
