First time with binoculars - need some help!

Nice one, I have a tripod and adaptor, so only the neck pod needed, sounds good :)

I found with mine I had to shorten the strap to max so the bins were at the right level ( I carefully cut the plastic pad to do so- it's not wonderfully comfortable in any case: I'm looking for a padded substitute). But maybe I'm part Giraffe!

Sorry for the delay. I found these instructions very useful:

Note that removing the EPs to access the field lenses requires removing the rubber cover on the centre of the bridge, which allows you to unscrew the bridge and EPs

I take mine to the talks I give on Binocular Astronomy and pass them round. I prefer it with a longer strap so the bottom of the "stick" rests on the bottom of my sternum, but women in particular can find that uncomfortable. With the longer strap, I have to lean back with it to get to the high altitude objects.

Great, thanks. . .

Do you think seeing bright stars as double is s collimation problem when other stars look fine?

I wouldn't want to start opening up my binoculars and causing more problems if this isn't really the cause. . could it just be the wobble at high magnification?

Thanks Steve. I am still new at using & experimenting with mine and will try lengthening the strap as well - it never occurred to me to try that! I just automatically thought 'hmm...shorter!'

Hi

My girlfriend just got me one of these neck tripods for my birthday, but I'm struggling at the first hurdle.

The top has a thread to which I assume your supposed to affix your binocular tripod adaptor, my problem is the small round silver spring loaded stud just behind the screw thread. My bino adaptor has holes in the bottom (by design) and this little stud gets stuck in there and o can't tighten or loosen the binocular adaptor??

Secondly, the "quick release" buttons on either side of the head, don't appear to do anything??

Am I being silly or missing something?

Cheers
