The last time that I saw it was from a hotel balcony in Gran Canaria, at about 15 degrees altitude. Definitely a lot larger than I expected, even with knowing the size. The clean ocean air at the time made it fairly easily visible in the 15x70 even without proper dark adaptation.

I haven't yet been able to see it from Ireland, usually because I'm missing a clean southern horizon, and missing a clean atmosphere!
