Well it certainly works on Windows 8.0/8.1 64 bit so I don't see any reason it would not work on 7.

I have version 13.0 running on a 64 bit Win & PC....

Yeah but it's a 32 bit version... Of course it will run but won't take advantage of 64 bit attributes. Hopefully they'll bring out a 64 bit 0.13.0 before too long :)

I never noticed any loss of speed, working very well, i'm sure there will be a 64 bit on its way....

I guess there may not be a lot in it - they say they streamlined the 32 bit code to run more efficiently :)

Hi ultramol,

if you send a private message to  alexwolf with a link to this thread he'll probably pay it a visit and leave a response. Alexander is our resident Stellarium developer. He is a helpful guy.

Hi!

Any 32-bit software (for Windows, of course) should work on 64-bit Windows. In common case this software should "eating" less resources than the same 64-bit application.

About Stellarium now: official package of version 0.13.0 for Windows x64 is not exists, because it contains serious regress. This regress is related to switching of building packages for Windows x64 onto Visual Studio (same compiler is used for building Win64 Qt5). Now we rewrote problematic code and latest binary snapshots of the Stellarium has x64 packages for Windows too (available at stellarium.org).

I have found the trouble, when downloaded it only brought in 19mb and on checking it is woefully short. For some reason my laptop stopped downloading for some unknown reason but put the installer in my download folder. Of course when I tried to run it it was,nt there to run. Many thanks for all your help

Regards.......geoff

If you do see/read from Alex, please give him a message? You could tell him Dave In Vermont says thank you for adding the Boorong* constellation names and art. It's great!

I am running the 0.12.4 beta version on a x64 windows 7 professional computer. It's much improved from the previous releases. Not a problem whatsoever.

Dave

You are welcome! Maybe you have star lore from others folks and you can help us save this knowledge?

Hey there,

In most of the Native cultures here in the US and Canada, the folklore and history is passed down generation to generation in spoken form. A great deal of it has been nearly lost as Native-American - USA - people's here were forced to attend missionary-run schools as kids, and were beaten for speaking their own language. Currently many tribes are busy working on resurrecting these stories and history with the few members who still retain this and are passing it on to the up and coming generations.

What I would suggest you do is to look for the names of the many tribes in the US and Canada and search for a website. Most have one. Then write to them and explain what you are trying to find and do with this information. They will probably be delighted with the idea! I know that I am, and I am part Native from a branch of the Sioux Nation. Unfortunately I do not have the knowledge to give you. But I can tell you this: Most tribal names translate to the equivalent of "The People." The Lakota people's name means "The People of the Morning Star."

Once again I thank you greatly for the Boorong. And for the wonderful Stellarium-project. I have directed a great many people to the site - and everyone loves it!

Thanks & Clear Skies,

Dave

Maybe you just have a large window, rather than full screen mode.

F11 enters/exit full screen mode. Try hitting it once. Does the problem disappear this way?

If I press f11 while running Stellarium it locks up and I have to reboot, can't even open task manager.

just tried f11 and allthough I could resize the screen the bottom could not be accessed . Problem still there and now the graphics are turning into little blocks and obscuring the menus. I ran this for ages on xp and had no trouble at all. I also cannot get task manager and need to force a shutdown to get the program off.
