Wow, with an m4 flare kicking out a partly earth directed cme not many hours back any cme from this x flare could join up with it and give a strong impact. Interestingly though the electron plot hasnt moved much yet so im going to have to look further into the data feeds to see what is happening as this should usually move if anything is comi g our way.

Cant wait for the chronograph images to come through, this has to show:the full halo cme and depending on speed it should arrive:some time this weekend.

The coronagraph images show a very fast moving cme which is expected to arrive on 12th so could mop up the earlier cme as it travels through space. Tomorrow night could be lively !

Geomagnetic Storm and Aurora Watch
An updated CME prediction model released by the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center is calling for the plasma cloud generated by the X1.6 solar flare to impact our geomagnetic field by Friday. A moderate to major (G3) geomagnetic storm watch is now in effect. Solar wind speeds are predicted to reach near 800 km/s and could add fuel to another geomagnetic disturbance already in the forecast resulting from an earlier M4.5 flare and CME event. Sky watchers at middle to high latitudes should be alert this weekend for visual aurora displays.

A number of small ARF and bright points keep coming and going in the AR 2158 region. Good it produce another large flare????

I would imagine the moon would really kill any chances of a aurora but it's worth a shot if it's clear cos this could be a major storm.

Spacewaether live have this now forecast for a 15:00UT arrival tomorrow afternoon which is good for UK observers.

At the speed it is going we may only get 20-40mins of warning via the ACE satellite before arriving at the earth.

Not sure what the weather is going to do though !

Keep an eye out on AR 2157 folks, just given off a small C class flare, looks like a ticking time bomb too me.

2157 currently has a 25% chance of producing an x class as per spaceweather live so this is indeed a one to watch
