Thought i would put this one up from last year , to get us in the mood , caz,s jup was brill , loved it , not sure how many frames this was now but guess it would have been around the 1500 mark ,

yes its great fun seeing the transit shadows of the planets moons , and even better to image them

Wonderful pic Rog. When is Jupiter going to be visible at a civilised hour i.e at a reasonable dec by midnight?

Another one i took last year, with the Celestron gps 8 and Toucam pro 2 , this shows the transit of one of jupiters moons , see the shadow top right hand , cant remember now how many frames , but would have been taken at F20 and enlarged

March onwards it becomes a night-time object again, but won't get much above 15/20 degrees above the horizon

Yes Daz is right , i,m afraid its not going to be great for us imagers , but viewing wise should be good , it is low down and that means we will get all that dirty atmosphere, and basically its going to be hard , but we will try and no doubt someone will get those lucky moments , this is what drove me to deep sky , i was left with nothing to image , went 4 years when the saturn rings were just a line and nothing else ,so make the best of it whilst you can over the next few years

yup sure is Martin , u can build up a very nice gallery of moon images ,and believe me there are plenty on there to image .
