Hello from Gloucester!

We have a 4in reflector and are looking to move up to a 12in dobsonian with help from posts, advice and chats around this site.

We were very lucky to experience a recent highlight in the form of a stargazing night with a local astronomy group who were very welcoming on the edge of the Joshua Tree National Park where of many objects we managed to see Saturn's rings and Titan clearly  for the first time!

Cheers

High Carol and Dom and a warm welcome to you both. My goodness moving from 4" of aperture to 12" means you are going to have to have a lie down after your observing because the increased view might prove a bit of a shock!    In fairness if you are going to upgrade I suppose you need to make the new investment worthwhile whilst hoping to stave off the next upgrade for some time - though 'aperture fever' can set in quite quickly so we might be hearing of you again about your next upgrade (16" Dod?) very soon.

Clear skies and hope you enjoy your stay here

James
