Synscan 'Named Star' option

Now then. I've had, and used my Synscan Goto software (EQ) quite happily for years. It is also up to date. However, the object list> named star routine never has and still doesn't work. I can pick any star on the list and the software jumps back to the first named star on the list. It's not a big deal but more of a niggle. Anybody else had this or know the remedy? Firmware is up to date v3.35. Other options such as Object list> Double or Variable star work fine.

Have you tried to do a fresh install of the firmware?

Do any of the buttons accidentally get stuck down?

If neither of these help, have you opened the handset and cleaned out any dust etc?

Yes I have.

Same buttons on other routines work fine.

Is it running 3.35?

Maybe try to uninstall all the skywatcher software off the pc, then re install it and download the firmware update again and re run a firmware update.

When you finish the 2 or 3 star align, do a 1 star align and then the handset works properly.........you can test this in daylight....

Well I never.... And I thought I knew all the Synscan Dark Arts. Better get back to Hogwarts!

Does this mean the goto is only operating on a one star alignment? How do people who need to do a three star alignment cope?

Interesting. I've never encountered this problem.

It must be  a software bug, it keeps the 2 or 3 star data, the 1 star alignment seems to get round the bug, not seen any thing dockumented.....might make it a bit better on the GoTo...

I'd have though any new star alignment would wipe the data from the previous one, not add to it.

I will look out for this next time i set up.

I don't know, but it did allow the GoTo a named star to work properly, and prior to using EQMod the GoTo did as it should, syncing in EQMod is so much nicer...

I may well try that myself, my mount seems to work fine for a few nights then throws a wobbler.

Just press 2 times ESC, that you see the setup menu again, then you can select the named star.

Works in 2 and 3 star assignment

I think the bug appears after a 2 or 3 star align, followed by a Polar Align......

No, I had the same issue with my AZ-EQ6.

After Polar alignment, 2 x ESC when writing Alignment successful and even after an Polaralign, I could still select "Named Star" and it didn't jump back to the fist star.
