One for the telescope historians

Im looking for any infomration on an old brass telescope i own, its made by W. ottway & Co in 1939 and has a designation of No428 .  It looks like this company maybe produced equipment for the war efforts so it may actually have started life as a gun sight or something. any one any knowledge?

Apparently a purveyor of optics like gun sight scopes. telescopes, theodolites, etc. to the military. A number of items appear in Google search for the company name.
