Getting No Response 16 on Nexstar 102 SLT

Hey,

Nexstar 102 SLT arrived earlier and I'm trying to align it. Unfortunately when using the directional pads, it wont move so I cannot put a star into the eyepiece. It gives me "No Response 16" and "No Respone 17".

Check the power appears the first option.

Google with "nexstar No Response 16"

What exactly are you powering it with??

If batteries are they rechargeables??

Already Googled the problem, didn't really give much help. I am powering it with 8 AA batteries - the red light (power on light) appears, handset works fine - but wont move at all.

Cant edit above post, but the batteries aren't rechargeable.

Also, I guess, make sure all the batteries are the correct orientation - always easy to make a mistake with that! Do post if you resolve the issue - for the benefit of others

Batteries are brand new, although they are only Energizers. Will they need to be Duracell to properly power the motor?

The energisers should be OK, I only asked as rechargeables are 1.2 volt so 8 of them makeks 9.6 volt not 12 volt as required. Fairly common mistake.

As it sounds new then I suspect that it will have to be returned, the Celestron site says power but also says connection to boards. If you have a faulty board then there is nothing you can do.

Ring the retailer first and talk to them but it sounds as if the problem is internal.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to try powering it with a 12v adapter before returning it, will keep you all updated.

Plugged in an adapter, powered up fine - same issue though. Gonna need a replacement... luckily it's not going to be a clear night here for a couple of days so no time lost!

Hey - here's my last update.

FLO sent a replacement handset and mount on Monday which arrived today. Everything now works perfectly! Really cannot speak highly enough of FLO right now, their customer service is brilliant. Thanks for all your help in this topic, going to have take advantage of the clear skies tonight.
