I have a hunch that a lot of lenses and some doublet ED scopes benifit with "best focus" rather than "perfect focus" it is one of the reasons i never use a bat mask or software tools to get focus.

The method uses liveview at x5 or x10 with a combination of ISO and shutter speed to get either a very faint star in the FOV (or a bright one with the use of the shutter speed) to go into switch on/off mode where it vanishes with the slightest movement of the focusser.
