That is an interesting article.  I agree with the post that follows it by Joves.  If it is normal to see some ripples they are very worrying to the user/owner even if you can't see the effect from them.  Apart from anything else I have never seen anything from Daystar before to say these are normal, it isn't on their website or in the manual, perhaps a few lines should be added to the manual, that would put everyones fears to rest?

I also seem to think Luke could see some effect from the dimples in the image?  Either way dimples, creases or any other form of non-uniform surface, no matter how slight will always have some effect, it just depends where it is in the imaging train as to whether it will be seen.

At the front outside the objective, it wouldn't be seen, but inside near the point of focus it might be.

re: the dimples, I couldn't be sure whether they caused the problems in the eyepiece view or not. Regardless of what the cause was, the eyepiece view was not right.

You're very diplomatic, Luke, but I think it is fair to say that the marks you have seen in your filters are what are causing the "irregularities" in your eyepiece view. I know, for a fact, that is the case with my Prominence version. To see the mark on the filter and know exactly where to look through the eyepiece, and then... Bang, there it is... As I say, I think it's fair to conclude the effect is due to the mark in the filter.

As for whether the effect can be seen on a smaller camera chip is a little irrelevant. These Quarks are designed primarily as a visual instrument that can be used for "casual imaging".

I'd hate for anyone to think that I am berating the Quark as a product, as I am in no way trying to do that. I wouldn't have bought three of the things if I didn't think they were fantastic. I just seriously think their QC on this product is far less than satisfactory and feel that, for distributors of the product to post utter nonsense about any comments stating other than this is "scaremongering", is complete and utter BS!
