Sol12
Hi my name is MIchael and am fairly new to Astronomy and have caught a interest in solar observing/imaging, however I am a little bit paranoid about my eyes, Are the H-Alpha telescopes made by Cornado totally safe? I am sure they are cause I know they are very popular. I am just paranoid LOL. Can I attach a DSLR to a PST? So basically I want to know are they idiot proof lol and come in the box ready to use?Michael
Peter Drew
Michael, welcome to the forum. No worries on any account with the PST. You may need a Barlow lens to reach focus with a DSLR.
Pete Presland
100% safe! i tried my DSLR on mine, but to be honest i found close ups on the individual proms more fun. it is definitely one of my most used pieces of astro equipment!
choochoo_baloo
I too find solar work very appealing!
NGC 1502
Hi Michael. I don't think you are paranoid, you only have one pair of eyes to last a lifetime. About the only danger is sunburn, I wear a large brimmed hat.Regards, Ed.
Herbig
Ha solar observing is with a PST IS SAFE. Been doing it for a couple of years now. To be honest I think it's best to use something with a high frame rate for solar imaging and then stack the AVI frames as you would do for Lunar imaging.
