In particular, the material is currently only suitable for coating surfaces that are not normally exposed to the elements

(i.e. rain or snow) or to human contact, any of which are likely to damage the material's optical properties.

I think one might be vaguely concerned about the human contact bit too? But it often seems that

"polycyclic hydrocarbons" - Finely divided stuff, can be carcinogenic. Don't Do Hold you breath? :p

Otherwise fascinating! Not the same (or sadly as BLACK!) :o

It's the 'New Black sweetie'

Black is the absence of colour, so this stuff is black to visible light, but what about IR or UV?  If it is black to those as well, it is starting to look like the material black holes are made of. 

Would be worrying if you found the cat stuck to it, unable to escape it's black grip.
