-Or as low as I can go . Sagittarius area down to the horizon here overlooking the Channel on the isle of Wight.

A clutch of Messiers starting with M7&6 (Butterfly) open clusters towards bottom right. The 'Teapot' spout intrudes from bottom left with the three Kaus's  of Sagittarius- Borealis, Media & Australis. M8 (Lagoon) and M20 (Trifid) nebs plus M24 star cloud etc at top left.

It's always murky this close to the horizon, it must be wonderful to see this area overhead!

30sec, iso 4000, Canon 6D, 24-105 @ 101mm f4.38 AWB on Astrotrac.

Thanks for the comments Michael and Peter, as you can see, Sagittarius is also on the cross-channel flight path from France!

Greetings Mark,

Very nice picture indeed and good quality so close to the horizon. Is the blue background at the higher altitude in the picture due to the sky not being "really dark"?

Jeremy.

Thanks again guys. Yes Jeremy, real darkness is in short supply up here at this time of the year!
