For remote controlled observatories monitored by (IR-sensitive) CCTV cams:

I can now watch my scope moving remotely under... "complete darkness"! 

Whether the IR will *destroy* my VIDEO astronomy remains to be seen?

I use this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00432J56G/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to watch what is happening, IR built in.

Used for when imaging and when I am not around as a security camera using motion alert with image upload to an external site if triggered.

You can also control if the IR is on though I have not see any issues on my images caused by the IR.
