To be honest, with a zoom lens you won't need a barlow as you will have all the focal lengths in one eyepiece.

Though you haven't said what scope you have got, I think even if you barlow the lense at 7.5 it will be too much.

I was thinking of the barlow with my 10mm and 25mm and just generally playing around with them. I wasn't sure about the seben zoom as I couldn't find many reviews on it. I have an 8" skywatcher dob

Oops sorry, missed the 8" skywatcher bit.

Personally I would put the money towards upgrading your eyepieces first.

I have the Baader MKlll 8-24mm Zoom with the 2.25 Barlow which works really well in all my scopes ( see my signature ) and gives excellent views. It gives you focal lengths of : 24, 20, 16, 12, 8mm and with the Barlow 10.6, 8.8, 7, 5.3, 3.5mm.

The seben zoom has had some decent reviews on here and if you decide on a barlow get a good quality

The £56 seben zoom is supposed to be OK (8mm to 24mm).

6-element, and fully multi coated.

But the £20 Seben zoom is awful in the 8-inch dob / and just as bad in the 3-inch travel scope.

It has 1x glass lens at the top, and 2x plastic lenses inside which are never going to work very well optically.

Not unless you like to see rainbows around the planets.

The one to avoid looks like this.

Advertised as 7.5mm to 22.5mm
