well with all the hype about this solar thing I thought I would give it a look today to see what was going and boy was I surprised. In fact so surprised I even did a sketch. The scope used was the 8inch SW DOB with Baader solar film fitted and I used my 17.3mm Delos. I know absolutory nothing about solar but I guess this is quite active for the sun? there was lots of detail to be seen, especially on the edges where I could see "cracks" I don't know what there called but they where very cool. anyway im im not going to make a habit of this but thought I would post my first solar sketch. sorry about the quality of the paper I had to swipe it from the kids.

I guess I'm the same Dan, I know next to nothing about solar and although I tried some Baader film a couple times it really didn't grab me enough to make a habit of it...Maybe I didn't give it a chance?

Fair play to you for making a sketch of what you saw though, looks very tidy. :)

I like it Dan :), if you did get addicted you could put all the bits of paper together and make a flicker book! :D No seriously though thats a bang tidy sketch, you obviously took some time and care in drawing it. Ironically I got the first look through my PST today now the AZ4 has arrived to mount it, Holy smoking donkeys did the Sun look great with my 11mm ES82!!!
