Chris started out with a couple of complete sentences as the introduction.

Maggie came on and said 2 words, then 2 more, then 3 words then 2 then 3.

That was the end of her sentence.

Why these sound bytes?

I could understand all Chris said, so why does Maggie deliver a sentence as if I am a complete and utter idiot who is too dim to be able to comprehend a full sentence that is continuous?

I turned over, think I managed 3 minutes. That delivery style drives me nuts.

Someone may say what it was about, but even CBBC presents to 4 year olds in a more continuous manner the S@N does now.

I agree she drives me nuts too :(  Yes, I watched it too, followed by Horizon.  Have to say I much preferred Horizon - found it very interesting even if we have had it all before :)

I thought the episode was an improvement on the last few, I understand the current marmite effect with a certain presenter, I also thought the stop/start delivery was not as bad as previously. It still needs improvement and does at times feel like being in a primary school.

I really like Maggie and the new format of S@N yes its not the same without Patrick and there isn't anyone who could ever fill his shoes.... I love the fact they have presenters who have a passion real for astronomy and not just someone pretty and clueless. The show has moved on....I like it

I thought that both Chris and Pete brought some dignity to the program, the rest was hurried over simplified rubbish set to music interspersed  with annoying reminders that we were watch the S@N, as if we didn't know!

I agree with Gina  that the following Horizon program about Mars was ten times better, despite being about ten years old.

I just watched the latest episode and I have to say that I enjoyed it.

Informative throughout and at a level which didn't make me think I was being talked down to.

Maggie seems to be enjoying it more too...... and I think her delivery has improved, though there is some way to go still.

i am hopeful for the future.

It's not the same without Patrick. Sigh.

Or the spaceshuttle.......................

or more manned space missions.................

or concord..................

No, of course not, but things have to move on.

I watched the first two episodes with the new cast. Didn't like the style and haven't watched it since. It's not because I'm stuck in the past either; I didn't watch it religiously even when Patrick was doing it. It was enjoyable then though.

Bah.

I think, on the whole, as non-specialists in public presentation, scientists do rather a good job on TV.

Unlike most others on (BBC) TV these days, they are not "ex-Footlights" or "Oxford Union"?  :p

Though I do find some a tad eager to be seen as politicians or stand-up comedians...

Kudos to S@N for "keeping it Science" - No selling stuff... personal worldviews... faux-laddism... :D
