Sorry to hijack this thread but, I have a SW AZ mount and im trying to find out if the handset would work with a HEQ 5 mount. I have tried to update the firmware but with no luck.

It should work. You need  to reflash your handset with the latest firmware (v 3.35)  http://ca.skywatcher.com/_english/05_service/01_download.php  and you will also need a new handset/mount cable. A cat5 network cable will do.

Installed StellariumScope and used it to configure and start Stellarium, All now seems to work: slew controls, goto and (after a bit of random pressing that I will probably not be able to replicate next time) tracking.

So it looks like I needed:

• Stellarium planetarium
• StellariumScope  to convert the stellarium commands to ASCOM
• The ASCOM platform
• EQASCOM drivers for the HEQ5 mount
